| Dance Descriptions Ballet- Is one of the oldest forms of dance and is the basis for all dancing. It instills the dancers foundation and technique. Classical music is usually used & movements is both graceful & strong. Our studio uses both Cecchetti & Vaganova techniques. Pointe; In addition to regular Ballet classes we also offer Pointe technique classes. This is not an alternate style of ballet, but rather an additional skill that Ballet students acquire in their training. Pointe work is never guaranteed for any student, physical limitations may not allow for Pointe work for every dancer. Lyrical; it is a fusion of ballet, jazz, & modern dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. Choreography is often emotional, gripping, and delicate all at the same time. Jazz; This is a form of dance that is quick paced and stylish. Jazz dance roots started in Africa & became popularized in the 50's & 60's. The technique is based from ballet technique with more flashy movements to faster paced music. The style or music used for Jazz is pop, rock, jazz, techno, disco, or contemporary. Tap; The dancer wears tap shoes which have metal plates on the toes and heels of the shoes. Tap dancing is dancing while making rhythms with the taps. Tap dancing sounds much like percussion instruments (drums) and uses some jazz technique. Hip Hop; This is the high energy style of dancing you mostly see on music videos and is usually done to hip hop or rap style music. Many isolations are used, & break dancing can also be incorporated. Musical Theatre; incorporates dancing & a great Broadway show tune. Not always but most of the time Jazz technique is used and acted out to the lyrics. Movements are very dramatic and often props are used. Modern; More contemporary music & movement is studied. Strengthening & using your core and practicing the contract & release method. Work with dynamics & creating shapes with ones body. Different partnering exercises & lifts are also used quite a bit. Class Descriptions; Twinklestars Ballet/Tap/Jazz combination; 60 min.
